Brief
For the final project, you will build a beautifully designed, robustly coded website based on a personal, time-based experience.
This project begins offline, out in the world. Spend a defined period of time engaging in an intentional experience away from screens. Afterwards, you will design and code a website documenting your experience.
The Experience
Your experience must:
- Take place offline
- Be grounded in your physical surroundings
- Include a clear constraint (time, location, rule, or repetition)
- Generate material you document yourself (notes, photos, sketches, recordings, logs, found objects, etc.)
The Website
Your website should translate the experience into an interesting and meaningful interaction for the viewer.
This is your final project. Create something substantial, meaningful, personal, and of high quality.
Your website must:
- Be mobile-first and fully responsive
- Be thoughtfully designed
- Use semantic, well-structured HTML
- Demonstrate strong command of CSS
- Use optimized images
- Include a favicon
Examples
Here are a few examples and suggestions to get you started.
Learn Something Completely New
Learn a new physical skill over a defined period of time and document your progress and challenges. For example: juggling, playing the piano, baking pies, learning knots, making paper airplanes, etc.
The City as System
Explore a single city system: a single bus line end-to-end, the longest staircases you can find, public seating, shadows cast by the same structure, visit the closest 10 libraries.
Accumulation
Collect one small thing per day for a month: overheard phrases, objects found on sidewalks or in the trash, handwritten notes.
Taking Note
Meticulously document one aspect of your life over time (everything you eat, every person you interact with, every sound you notice, every threshold you cross).
